HONOR ROTARY WITH FAITH AND ENTHUSIASM
You who belong to Rotary are truly blessed!
You are made a part of this organization in recognition of your strong leadership abilities, your outstanding citizenship, your importance to the community, your worthy performance in your business or profession and your strong family values. It was recognized that you possessed the ability, the desire, and a true calling to Service. As such, your fellow Rotarians placed their complete confidence in You.
Those who received such recognition from their own communities can only count themselves blessed, for they are persons of great merit. They display the sensitivity to understand that greater happiness comes to those who serve than to those who are served.
You belong to an extraordinary “Crusade for Peace” that gathers more than 1,100,000 volunteers, active in more than 24500 clubs located in 167 countries and geographical regions the world over. In Rotary you will find, in addition to this treasure-trove of more than a million friends, excellent opportunities to serve, to be of use, and to return a little of the bounty you have received.
How can you repay this privilege and this blessing?
You can repay it by working to Honor Rotary with the full force of your Faith and all the ardor of your Enthusiasm. You can recognize that Rotary’s great potential depends on the combined strengths of all of us, and that your active participation is required and essential. Have absolute faith in the validity of Rotary’s actions, because these have their foundation in actual events, made concrete thanks to the unselfish spirit of people of good will.
Always keep alive your enthusiasm for Rotary, a dynamic movement that proclaims friendship and harmony, dignifies all worthy occupations, alleviates the pain of those who suffer, defends truth and justice, and promotes deep understanding and peace among nations.
HONOR ROTARY - BY BEING LOYAL AND ACTIVE
Your club needs you and relies on your loyalty to Rotary. Your ideas, your support, your experience and your collaboration confirm your true leadership.
Make yourself an essential part of the process. Be a genuine source of support by cooperating in all the initiatives of your club. Move from fellowship to friendship, and from friendship to brotherhood. Take pride in the privilege of your Rotary membership, and honor the whole by participating with the fullness of your enthusiasm.
Leave an indelible mark on the world through your faith in Rotary.
HONOR ROTARY - BY MAKING YOUR VOCATION A LESSON IN DIGNITY
It is easy to be good, and it is easy to be bad. The hard thing is to be just.
In serving through our professions, we must always proclaim the Truth, promote Justice, and defend Honesty as absolute values. Honor Rotary by making your occupation a magnificent opportunity for service. Seek always to serve, not only as an example to youth, but also as a model for those who have already come of age.
Transmit Rotary’s sound principles to your professional association, to your clients, and to your competitors. Captivate even the most skeptical with your enthusiasm, by demonstrating your faith in the Ideal of Service. Steadfastly preserve Morality and Ethics by dignifying your personal participation in Rotary.
HONOR ROTARY - BY REVEALING OUR TRUE IMAGE
Because many are unaware of the valuable services we provide, Rotary’s true image often is distorted.
In many communities, and by various organizations and even governments, we are misunderstood and, at times, our intentions are wrongly interpreted.
As a result, we need to disclose Rotary’s legitimate status as a vital Service Organization.
To do so, we need to take a decisive role in solving community problems, putting to work Rotary’s excellent programs, which benefit all noble causes.
Our
strongest signal to the world will come through our dedicated work on behalf of the children, of the elderly, of the homeless, and of the needy.
By walking alongside our young people, transmitting to them our faith and our enthusiasm, we will consolidate the present and construct a future that will guarantee them a better world in which to live.
HONOR HOTARY - BY PREPARING FOR THE NEXT CENTURY
We are living in the final decade of this fascinating and tumultuous 20th Century. Rotary, having been a remarkable Reality in this day and age, will no doubt go on to become the Great Hope of the 21st Century.
The world has gotten smaller, but Rotary itself has grown by leaps and bounds. Today we are present and active on every continent. We have attained an extraordinary Internationality even as we have maintained our impressive Unity.
The success of The Rotary Foundation and of our ambitious international projects leaves us with a responsibility to take one more step forward and, likewise, give us the assurance that we will do precisely that. We will act with complete objectivity, envisioning a world of greater justice where Peace reigns supreme. We will work with dedication to protect and preserve our natural resources, in order to achieve a better quality of life here on our “Planet Earth”.
